Our Mission

Animal Welfare staff are committed to protecting citizens and their pets by investigating animal bites, stray cats and dogs, animals nuisances, aggressive or dangerous dogs, as well as animal neglect, abandonment, and cruelty cases. Dogs and cats that are placed in the City's care are treated humanely and, if possible, are offered for adoption if not claimed by their owners.

Our Contact Info

Call 911 for animal bites, vicious animals, or other dangerous situations. RequestTracker is available to report lost or found dogs and cats, or non-threatening animal nuisances. Citizens can also call Animal Welfare at 918-246-2543 for general inquires, or the police and fire non-emergency number, 918-245-8777, for non-emergency matters.

Our Location

The Sand Springs Animal Welfare Facility (animal shelter) is located at 8620 W. 21st St. - a half-mile east of the intersection of Morrow Road and Adams Road on 21st Street. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Wish Lists

The facility has an Amazon wish list and Cuddly wish list where donors can choose raw hide bones and other fun treats to provide a healthy and pleasant environment for animals in our care. Once a donation is made through Cuddly or Amazon, the items chosen will be shipped directly to the City for the facility.

Thank you for your consideration.

Our Adoption Program

Dogs or cats kept at the animal shelter more than 3 days may be adopted by anyone over the age of 18 who presents a valid driver’s license or government-issued identification. The adoption fee is $70 for cats and kittens, and $85 for dogs (includes a city license and microchip) -- with funds used to defray the City's costs for spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a health examination. Adoptable animals are posted on various social media sites.

Our Licensing Policy

All dogs and cats in the city limits must be licensed. The $10 license fee is valid as long as the dog or cat resides in the city limits. A tag issued with each license can help track the pet should it stray or become lost. Licenses can be purchased at the Animal Control facility at 8620 W. 21st St.

Our Vaccination Requirements

Dogs or cats within the city limits must be vaccinated by a veterinarian against rabies after reaching 4 months of age. Vaccinations shall have a 1-year or 3-year immunity period. Proof of current vaccination shall be available upon request by Animal Welfare staff, police officers, or other authorized City employees.
