The Sand Springs Fire Department serves the City of Sand Springs and several small communities within Tulsa and Osage Counties in Northeastern Oklahoma.  We are a progressive suburb of Tulsa, Oklahoma and are roughly situated five miles west of downtown Tulsa.  We protect approximately 40,000 people living in 64 square miles.  The City of Sand Springs was founded in 1913 and is currently undergoing significant growth in new geographic areas, and redevelopment in the existing downtown corridor.  E1 and E2, House Fire - North Roosevelt

The Sand Springs Fire Department is led by Fire Chief Mike Wood. Chief Wood is a veteran of the department and formerly served as Deputy Fire Chief and Captain before becoming the Fire Chief.  The Sand Springs Fire Department operates out of two fire stations, located each side of the
Arkansas River. Both stations are equipped to handle all kinds of emergencies.  In addition to both fire stations, the fire department also maintains a separate physical fitness building and an administrative headquarters.  The fire department is a full-time unionized department and has no volunteer or part time employees.  Each shift is staffed with firefighters trained in all facets of emergency response including firefighting, emergency medical care, hazardous materials response, and technical rescue.   At a minimum each shift is scheduled to have at least seven (7) Haz-Mat Technicians, three (3) Rescue Specialist members of the State Urban Search and Rescue Team, and four (4) EMT-Intermediates.

The Sand Springs
9-1-1 Center, operated in the Police Station, is staffed by a minimum of two E911 telecommunicators who receive 9-1-1 calls and handle voice radio communications for both the police and fire department. Ambulance calls are handled by the Emergency Medical Service Authority (EMSA), which places an ambulance in the City of Sand Springs.
